Podiatrist in Abington Northampton
Local anaesthetic, LA, is used to prior to surgery to numb the area to be treated or for pain relief.
We use an LA prior to toe nail surgery for ingrown toe nails. Ingrowing toe nails can be very painful and become infected. You do not need to see your GP for ingrowing toenails as they will tell you to see a Podiatrist. Even if the toe is infected and pus is present you should still see a Podiatrist first as antibiotics are not usually required.
The surgery takes approximately 15 - 30 minutes and is painless as your toe will be numb.
Post surgery you will need to salt water bathe daily and redress. You will be shown how to redress the toe.
